I’m in a bit of trouble at the moment. I took a loan out to pay for my exorcism and I’ve not been able to keep up with the payments and so I’ve been repossessed.
Although I promised to carry on with my Doom A-Z in my last post, I have to just quickly mention a few bands I’ve discovered mainly thanks to the YouTuber BlackMetalUpdates and Bandcamp. So as usual I’ll give a (very) brief description of the acts/albums and then link youtube clips, bandcamp pages, metal-archives pages and whatever else I see fit.
So having said all that, my first act is one I discovered on the ‘Doomed and Stoned In Portland’ free compilation I mentioned in my last post. The is called SOL (with an acute accent over the ‘O’), they have a 4 track ep entitled ‘Black Mountain’ and it really is quite spiffing boys and girls. If your a fan of Cult of Luna and all things post-rock/post-metal then I can quite happily recommend this five-piece to you. The ep is only $4 and it’s well worth every damn red cent! This is really well produced with a gorgeous guitar sound and excellent rumbling basslines and powerful drumming.

Next up is a one-man black metal act from Helsinki, Finland named Dodkvlt (with a line striking through the ‘o’. I must learn how to do accents on my computer!)
He has four releases out on bandcamp at the moment (one of them is his 3 songs from the split with fellow countrymen Goats of Doom which is such a great name!) and they are all ‘name-your-price’ options. So if you enjoy brutal, solid BM with a touch of experimentation here and there (check out the Youtube clip!) then I suggest you click the bandcamp link, listen and give whatever money you can to this deranged lunatic and I mean that in a nice way!

Finally more post-black metal/atmospheric BM/whatever you want to call it, this time from France. Olivier Duruy is the brains behind raw black metal act Funeraal and Hymnn, which is the band I’m featuring. Hymnn’s 3-track ep is entitled ‘Dans nos coeurs…cette luminere eternel and is available for a minimum of 1Euro, which is bloody cheap in my estimation!. It’s 28 minutes of wonderful melodies and some fantastic riffs and notes that will send you to a happy place (Disclaimer: Your happy place my be radically different to the happy place of the author. Listener discretion is advised).

So hopefully I’ve turned you on to some good stuff featuring some new artists who will rock your little socks off and you’ll be glad to turn over your hard-earned cash to. (I’m such a pimp!)
